How this site makes money from affiliate links and labeled sponsored placements, how each is marked, and what a sponsor can never buy.
The short version: this site may earn money when you buy through some of its links, and vendors can pay for placements marked “Sponsored”. Neither one changes what I recommend.
Affiliate links #
Some links on this site may be affiliate links. If you click one and then buy, the vendor may pay this site a commission. You don’t pay anything extra.
- An article with affiliate links says so at the top, and again next to the first affiliate link.
- Affiliate links go through a
/go/address on this site, so you can see before clicking that it’s a tracked link. - They’re marked
rel="sponsored nofollow". That tells search engines the link is commercial, so it passes no ranking credit. - A commission never changes a verdict, a ranking or a price I report. If the best choice for you has no affiliate program, it’s still the recommendation.
Sponsored placements #
A vendor can pay for a clearly marked placement: a slot next to a relevant comparison, or a whole sponsored post.
- Every sponsored slot and post is labeled “Sponsored” and looks different from the editorial content around it. A sponsored post names the sponsor at the top.
- Sponsored slots sit beside or above a ranked list, never inside it.
- Every link in a sponsored placement is marked
rel="sponsored". This site never sells followed links. - Sponsored posts are written and edited by me, under my byline, on topics that fit the site.
What a sponsor can never buy #
- A verdict or a “best for” pick
- A higher position in a ranking
- The removal or softening of criticism
- Approval of, or edits to, an article before it’s published
If a sponsor asks for any of these, the answer is no.
Other connections #
Anurag Kumar, who runs this site, has a business connection to apiserpent.com, a SERP API covered on some pages here. Every article that covers apiserpent.com says so in its disclosure note. Anurag has no other ownership, job or shareholding in a vendor covered here. If that changes, or if a vendor covered here pays Anurag outside this site, every article that mentions that vendor will say so, and this page will too.
